I began my creative journey as a fine artist at The Maryland Institute College of Art, originally aspiring to be a painter. While grappling with a blank canvas, I realized I didn't yet have a clear personal statement to express. However, exploring other departments at the Institute led me to discover that as an illustrator I could breathe visual life into a writer’s words, offering endless opportunities for self-expression and unique perspectives.
Soon after graduating, I was introduced to Production Designer Shepherd Frankel, who was seeking a concept illustrator in Baltimore, MD. Despite my lack of formal film training, my skills in drawing, painting, and conceptual thinking impressed him, leading to my involvement with STEP UP, a film directed by Ann Fletcher. I was captivated by the challenge of defining a film’s visual style and creating unique worlds for characters and narratives to live in. This experience marked the beginning of a flourishing career.
It’s all art, it all comes from the artist.
Over the next decade, I became known for my versatile ability to conceptualize a wide range of needs in film production, including storyboarding, prop design, hero art, mural and scenic art, costume design, 3D modeling, and VFX. Notable projects include: Taking Woodstock, Doubt, Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close, Moonrise Kingdom, Tower Heist, The Great Gatsby, and Noah.

While my detailed concept renderings were highly regarded, it was my spontaneous “doodles” that often captured the essence of my ideas and solidified my relationships with top designers including: Kristi Zea, David Gropman, Rick Buttler, Mark Friedberg, Bob Shaw and David Korins. These quick sketches effectively communicated the creative direction, making a significant impact in collaborative settings.
By 2013, the rise of streaming services and episodic content reshaped the industry in New York, pushing me out of my comfort zone in film and into TV, theater, and experience design. This transition, though challenging, opened doors to new roles such as Art Director and Associate Designer, making me an indispensable collaborator on projects including Persons of Interest, The Who Was Show, The Oscars, GREASE LIVE!, Beetlejuice on Broadway, The Hamilton Exhibition, Treasures from Chatsworth, and CAMP INC.
Now, approaching the 20th year of my career, I am excited to embrace new roles in production design, set design, and creative direction. I am eager to channel my experience and energy into new creative endeavors, and committed to continually elevating my artistry as a Set & Production Designer.
